Lake Tahoe - Wednesday

Justin and I took our first family vacation with my sweet Jaybird!
Tuesday post is ----> here

On Wednesday while we were in Lake Tahoe we decided to take her sledding along the Mt. Rose Highway. It was her first time going sledding and she asked very innocently... "How do we get up the hill?" I informed her that she would have to walk all the way up every time she wanted to slide down..
"ooooooohhhh that's going to be a lot of work" Yes child and you will sleep well tonight :)

Grandma and Grandpa came with us to sled.

Sorry most of the pictures were of her face and I can't show those quite yet :(

Yup my child loves to eat snow!

Even Grandpa went sledding with us!

Yeah, I fell a lot! I'm pretty good at that.
Justin and I went down together a few times. We had one good run and that was it. The rest of the time we fell over half way through.

From our last run before we got too tired to climb up that hill again.
Once we got hungry we left and headed back to the house to clean up and go to Jason's (Justin's family favorite restaurant in Tahoe.) She's been to nice restaurants before but we have really been working on her table manners at home so we could work her up for this. Jaybird did fantastic!! I was able to show her other kids at the next table not using proper manners and compare them to her. It gave her an amazing confidence boost! Sorry the restaurant was dark and we were tired and forgot to get pictures! But here's a picture of Jasons!

After lunch we took a few photos (Like always :) ) and Grandma and Grandpa graciously took Jaybird to the movies so Justin and I could have a date night. The three of them went to see the Spongebob Movie in 3D (I am forever in their debt because I had no desire to see that movie) and Justin and I finished recreating the pictures, played a few slots, and ate dinner at an amazing tapas bar.

2015... Ok this one was hard because it was an action shot but I think I did pretty good :)
We grabbed some other pictures from the locations we were at too! We have to make new memories to recreate when we got back again in the winter/spring time.

These are from the overlook

The second set if from one of the public spots on the beach.

Thank you Justin for the amazing picture of me trying to figure out how to make it to the rock!

After we had our fun at some "amazing" casinos... No they were really trashy! I thought Virgin River, in Mesquite, was trashy.. these were bad! We found our way to a Tapas Bar (Thank you Yelp!) that was only a couple miles from the house. It was amazing and we had our own first this trip; we spent $100 on one meal and didn't have to worry about using that money for something else. I know.. it's kinda silly but it's taken us a while to get to this place in our marriage and it feels great!

We stared with bacon wrapped, bleu cheese filled figs

Gnocchi in a mushroom and pancetta cream sauce

Chickpea butter lettuce wraps

Yes my dessert was a cheese plate. Judge me all you want!

Justin got key lime squares
And one very tired Justin with some awkward Justin Bieber hair.
We were able to get an amazing panoramic picture of the lake!

Lake Tahoe - Tuesday

Justin and I took our first family vacation with my sweet Jaybird!
Monday's post is ----> here

We spent Tuesday taking her around to all the different locations that Justin and his family would visit when they would travel to Lake Tahoe. We took her to see Donner Park at the beginning of the day. She was very excited to be able to cross into California for the first time.

We walked through the museum first and let her read about the Donner party before we did the walking tour outside. She got to read from the pamphlet while we walked around to the different stopping points on the tour.

I'm glad that she understands what to do when we need to take social media appropriate pictures!

After Donner Park, I saw that the Bass shoe store was having a sale.... so we may have stopped so I could get some new shoes for Jaybird and I :) We drove into Truckee and found a Round Table Pizza for Justin. She kept asking if there was going to be dessert pizza because the pizza buffet we go to have it. She did find their cinnamon twists and decided that those were an acceptable substitute for dessert pizza.
We found this really cool hands on museum in Truckee and got her excited to go!

They had a plane that the kids could pretend to fly

They also had a hot air balloon

and some butterfly wings that I couldn't fit into

Sexy and yes those are stuffed animal guinea pigs

Yes I can play maracas!

I'm sitting on a tiny log cooking fake fish.. the things you do for your child

After the children's museum we went to 7-11 for a snack... It was her first time there so we introduced her to Slurpee's! She is in love and asks for them all the time now! We drove to Squaw Valley and showed her around, amongst all the skiers. I wanted to recreate some of the pictures we took on our honeymoon while we were in Lake Tahoe.

Close enough!

We drove back to Lake Tahoe and showed her "Fanny Bridge" and the ducks

Apparently I didn't take any social media friendly ones of her on the bridge.. but it's called Fanny Bridge for a reason... Look at all the previous pictures of her on the bridge and imagine that all the way across the bridge!

Then we walked down to a different part of the beach and walked to the park on the beach.

Her sticks name is "Bob"

After the park we walked back to our car, headed back to the house, and ate dinner. After dinner we very impatiently waiting for Grandma and Grandpa to arrive at the house. All over a very good, busy, and tiring day :)
